About Me

I am Anthony Kingsley,  the travelling copywriter, the travel agent who is also a copywriter. Or is that a copywriter who is also a travel agent?

The starting point is a travel agent. I run a travel agency Anthony Kingsley Travel. During the first of the 2020 covid lockdowns, when travel dried up, I decided to use the time to improve my copywriting skills for my business.

I took a level 4 course with the Blackford Centre, and two courses from the “Godfather of Digital Marketing” Ryan Deiss.

Then as lockdown persisted, I was asked to write some copy for a friend, and was then referred to another business to write the copy for their new website.

And so The Travelling Copywriter was born.

I am a great believer in continuing education, and continue to read widely on copywriting and content marketing, business development and improvement, and on other subjects which I think might help your business and mine.

I have written on a variety of subjects including law, child care, business, marketing, lifestyle and of course travel, but am now settling more and more into copywriting for travel businesses

My skill lies in taking a complex subject and translating it into more simple language that your customers will understand and to take the actions that you want them to take.

My experience in running a travel agency as well as writing for travel publications gives me a good insight into what makes the traveller, potentially your next client, want to book with you. It means that I am up to date with many of the trends of today and tomorrow, such as sustainability, bleisure, set jetting, wellness. I know what is selling and what is not selling, what you should look to sell and perhaps those you should not.

One question that I am always asked by, for example, hotel owners is why do they need to employ me as a copywriter for their hotel? Surely my writing skills will bring enough of my clients to the hotel without having to pay me separately as a copywriter.

The answer to that question is that there are two different types of audience: those who use a a travel agent to book their holiday and those that prefer to book direct. Travel agents accept that about 80% + of the travelling public will book themselves either though one of the online platforms or direct with the hotel. As a travel agent, my target audience is that 20% and I am focused as much on promoting myself, and my brand, as I am the destination. People do business with people they know, like and trust, and as a travel agent I am trying to build up that trust in me.

So who is selling to that remaining 80% and do you want a slice of it? This is where good copywriting underpinning a solid sales and marketing strategy comes into play.

You can run your business, but can you write for it?

Let me write for it so that you can get on with what you do best, and together we will grow your business.

Anthony Kingsley Travel

I started my travel business in 2017 with the well known, excellent homeworking franchise, Not Just Travel, which gave me a real grounding in what was for me then a new business industry.

It was during the pandemic that my interest in personalised travel began to grow, together with a belief in more sustainable travel. I have had a few health issues so I have become increasingly interested in wellness travel, not just as amenities means of recovery but also to prevent illness, physical and mental.

I have taken courses with the Wellness Travel University, and visited a number of wellness resorts, such as the Farm at San Benito in the Philippines and the thermal bathing region of Abano Terme.

I have also completed a course with the Global Council for Sustainable Travel (GSTC) to become better informed as to what sustainable travel really means… gong beyond not having your towels and bed linen washed every day.

Anthony Kingsley Travel can book and sell package holidays such as TUI, EasyJet, Beachcomber and Sandals, etc. But my real passion is for designing completely personalised travel around my clients, encouraging them to be a little more curious, ambitious and adventurous, and of course to travel a little more sustainably than they have done before.
